Who We Are

Introducing Team Lagos, the Vis moot team representing the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos, Nigeria, in the 31st Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot.

The team is made up of law students, Chidera Okoro, Gloria Alonge, Oluwatoyin Salami, Susanna Oladejo, Ifeoluwa Aruwajoye and Betty Elikwu.

A one time winner of the Spirit of the Moot, this will be Team Lagos' 4th time participating in the Vis moot.

Together with their coaches Adedoyin Adepetu, Okikenna Osele, Moyinoluwa Adewale, and their external coach Faisal Mohammed, they will be bringing in their various experiences to ensure a win in this competition. They wish the other teams a successful run!

Betty Elikwu

Betty is a third year law student at the University of Lagos with a practised interest in arbitration. She is the General Secretary of the ADR Society, UNILAG. She has authored an article for the fourth edition of the ADR Journal of the University of Lagos. 

Her journey in mooting cuts across various competitions and awards including being a member of the champion team of the FDI moot African Regionals, 2022 and the National Arbitration Debate, 2023, she was s member of the team that emerged as first runners up in the Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot. She participated in the 30th Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration moot competition, 2023 and is currently participating in the 31st Vis moot competition, 2024 as well as 2024 edition of the Sports Law Arbitration Moot. 

Asides international commercial and legal practice, she enjoys reading novels and hanging out at the beach.

Chidera Okoro

Okoro Chidera is a 4th year student at the University of Lagos’s Bachelor of Laws Program. She is currently the Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution society of the University of Lagos. She is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators.

Chidera was a member of the champion team of the FDI moot African regionals 2022. She was also a member of Lagos Team 1, who won the Alfred Deakin moot competition 2022. Chidera was a member of the University of Lagos’ 30th Vis Moot team and FDI Moot 2023 team. She is currently participating in the 31st Vis Moot and the 2024 edition of the Sports Law Arbitration Moot.

She has a great interest in international commercial and legal practices as well the various ADR mechanisms and as such, intends to use this competition as an opportunity to gain more knowledge and experience in relation to her interests and hopefully, bring pride to her country and university.

Gloria Alonge

Alonge Gloria Oziohu is a 5th year student of law at the University of Lagos Nigeria. She is an avid reader who enjoys research and writing.

She is passionate about self development and growth and has participated in a number of moot competitions including the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Moot. Her interests include international commercial arbitration and public international law. 

Grace Ifeoluwa Aruwajoye

Aruwajoye Grace Ifeoluwa is a final year student of the prestigious Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. She is also an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Mediators and Conciliators (ICMC).

As a student with keen interest in Corporate and Commercial Law revolving around Taxation, Intellectual Property, Oil and Gas amongst others, she has taken out time to intern with certain reputable law firms. She looks forward to how the Willem C. Vis Moot will strengthen her oral advocacy and comprehension of International Commercial Disputes. Ifeoluwa is also passionate about Diplomacy, Photography, Sports and Art.

Oluwatoyin Salami

Oluwatoyin Mariam Salami, a third-year law student at the University of Lagos, possesses a diverse array of interests that propel her aspirations. Arbitration, sports law, intellectual property law, and taxation are just a few of the captivating fields that captivate her attention. She serves as one of the Directors of Research for the Alternative Disputes Resolution (ADR) Society at Unilag. In addition to her academic pursuits, she has undertaken internships at prestigious law firms including Banwo & Ighodalo, Templars, and Bloomfield LP.

Nevertheless, her intrigue with the Sustainable Development Goals has motivated her to engage in numerous Model United Nations conferences, providing a platform for her to advocate on pressing global issues. Furthermore, Oluwatoyin currently holds the esteemed position of Assistant Secretary General 2 at Lagos Model United Nations (LMUN), highlighting her exceptional leadership skills.

Beyond academia, Oluwatoyin finds solace in writing, conducting in-depth research, and actively volunteering for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs). During her leisure time, she indulges in the joy of music, immerses herself in captivating novels, and delights in the world of cinema.

Susanna Oladejo

Susanna Oladejo is a 3rd year law student of the University of Lagos. She joined the Unilag ADR society in January 2022, because she wanted to diversify her knowledge and know where exactly her interests lie. In line with a budding interest in arbitration, she interned with the Lagos Multidoor Courthouse in 2022 and is participating in this competition to further build her knowledge and skills.

Her first contact with formal public speaking was as a delegate of the UN Women at the LMUN'21 and with her interests in content and digital marketing, she will be serving as a member of the LMUN Media and Communications team for the LMUN'24.

When she is not studying one thing or the other, she is seeing or reading the next thriller!

Moyinoluwa Adewale (Coach)

Moyinoluwa Adewale is a fifth-year law student at the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos. She is a member of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society, UNILAG, and has taken a keen interest in arbitration.

She is one of the representatives of the First African School to win the Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot Competition 2022 and also participated in the 30th Vis Moot Arbitration Competition. She is currently a coach for the Nigerian team participating in the 31st Vis Moot Arbitration Competition.

Moyinoluwa would like to further explore arbitration as an Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanism in different sectors.
