He describes his Vis Moot experience as challenging, yet rewarding thus far and cannot wait to see the team continue to embrace the knowledge that the Vis Moot has to offer.

Kate Metzer

Kate is a 3rd year LLB student at the University of Pretoria. She has competed in numerous internal and international moot competitions that have sparked her love for oral advocacy. Kate’s achievements are outstanding: She placed 1st in Kovsies, a South African Constitutional Moot Competition, and she placed 9th in the Nuremberg Moot Court Competition, an international criminal law Moot Competition.

The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration moot provides insight into international private law which she hopes to be apart of. Kate is looking forward to the challenge ahead.

Zakir Wazar

Zakir is a 3rd year BCom Law student at the University of Pretoria.

Previously in moot, Zakir has participated in the University’s Junior League moot court competition, where he placed 1st overall. This sparked his passion for moot and piqued his interest in pursuing advocacy as a career. Zakir decided to join the Vis Moot as he believes it is a good way to test his capabilities and to learn what is required of a legal professional in the real world.

Over the past few months, he has experienced new levels of highs and lows. Vis has not only demonstrated to him the many forms of sacrifice, but it has also allowed him to develop strong bonds with his fellow teammates and helped strengthen his appreciation for the craft. Zakir hopes to continue pushing himself to new heights over the next few months as the oral round of the competition draw nearer.

Ashley Hebron

Ashley Hebron is a 2nd year LLB student at the University of Pretoria.
