Who We Are

University of Nairobi Law School is a public law school located in Nairobi, Kenya which was founded in the 1960s. They are one of the founding members of Africa in the Moot as a beneficiary university in the 2023 Vis Moot Vienna.

Barbara Ayimba

Barbara Ayimba is a third-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree at the University of Nairobi (UoN). She is particularly interested in the fields of Commercial law, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Environmental Law.

She looks forward to having a great learning experience throughout the Vis Moot Journey.

 

Lucky Philomena Mbaye

Philomena Mbaye, is a passionate, resourceful and results driven individual with a strong sense of passion for Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. She has received certification as a negotiator and mediator from International Mediation Campus.

 

Victor Maina

Victor Maina is a Third Year law student and mootie from the University of Nairobi. He is also a Legal, ADR and Research Assistant at Wyne & Associates, a boutique law and research firm and consultancy with specialty in Arbitration, Construction Adjudication and Architecture; and Research in International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law, International Refugee Law and Dispute Resolution on the African continent.

Keen on both written and oral advocacy, Victor has received a number of awards recognizing his talent and initiative. As such, he serves as President of the International Court of Justice in the Kenya Model United Nations, as well as Secretary General and Moot Lead of the Young Arbiters Society, a student-run initiative dedicated to the growth of talent in the Kenyan ADR space.

Victor is also called upon on an ad hoc basis to support the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Kenya Branch and the Nairobi Centre for International Arbitration in research and conference projects, further buttressing his quality as an asset in the international dispute resolution discourse. He also holds experience in the banking sector, having worked with Equity Group Holdings in Kenya.

Other than Dispute Resolution, Victor’s interests lie in International Law, and Sports Law which perfectly compliments his penchant for motorsport and football.

 

Julius Bruce Ochieng

Julius Bruce Ochieng is a final year law student and an Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) enthusiast from the University of Nairobi. He believes that participating in the Vis Moot provides him with an invaluable opportunity to hone his ADR, research and advocacy skills while receiving accurate and timely feedback from professionals in the field of ADR.
