Who We Are

The University of Dar es Salaam - in the capital city of Tanzania - is incredibly excited to be a beneficiary member of Africa in the Moot. The 2022 Vis Moot represents the first time our university has participated in the Vis Moot. We hope to be a long time member of Africa in the Moot and a fierce competitor in the actual competition in Vienna.

Meet the Team

Fredrickson Maboko

Fredrickson is in his final year at the University of Dar es Salaam. His interests include tax law, international trade law and international commercial arbitration. Fredrick has developed these interests due to having a keen interest in cross border business transactions. He has participated in the Great Lakes regional Moot Competition and is incredibly excited to be a part of his university’s VIS Moot team.

 

Lucas Maduhu

Lucas is in his final year at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. As a future lawyer and lifelong humanitarian, he has invested his concentrations in invaluable insight into Human Rights, Intellectual Property, Corporate Law, Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution. He has participated is several Moot Courts including but not limited to the 14th Price Media Law Moot Court Competition of 2020/21 and the 13th Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition of 2021. He participated in the 5th Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2021 together with the University of Dar es Salaam’s first team ever. He credits the 5th Alfred Deakin ICA Moot for a new appreciation and curiosity for International Commercial Arbitration and a diverse bouquet of practical skills.

 

Mariam Issa

My name is Mariam Issa - a fourth year student at the University of Dar es Salaam. I’ve taken part in different moots including the Great Lakes Moot Court Competition in 2019, Price Media Moot Court in 2021, Alfred Deakin Moot Court 2021 and Victory Attorneys National Moot Court competition. My interests include Arbitration Law, International Commercial Law, Investment Law and Human Rights Law.

 

Catherine Mkama

My name is Catherine Mkama - a final year student pursuing a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. My interests includes Arbitration, International Laws, Human Rights Law, Refugee Law, and Investment Law. I have taken part in a number of moot court competitions including Price Media Moot Court Competition, Alfred Deakin Moot Court Competition, Victory Attorneys National Moot Court Competition and International Humanitarian Law Moot Court Competition. I am extremely excited to participate for the first time in the Willem C. Vis Moot Competition and I am looking forward to extend my skills in research and public speaking.

Juma Hussein

My name is Juma Ally Hussein - a student in the fourth year of the LL.B Programme at the University of Dar es Salaam. I am interested in Human Rights Law, Corporate Law and Arbitration Law. I have participated in the 1 st Victory Attorneys Moot Court Competition in 2021 and I’m incredibly excited to be a participant in the Willem C. Vis Moot competition.

 

Hillary Kweka

Hillary A. Kweka is in his final year of LL.B studies at the University of Dar Es Salaam School of Law. He has key interest in Investment Law, Natural Resource Law, Commercial Law, International Arbitration, and Human Rights Law. He has participated in the Nelson Mandela World Human Rights Moot Court Competition, the 5th Alfred Deakin Moot Court Competition and in the Victory Attorneys National Moot Court Competition. He believes that mooting is vital in sharpening a future lawyer’s essential skills especially in research, writing skills, oratory skills and proactiveness.

 

Eunice Mtiro

My name is Eunice Mtiro - a fourth year LL.B student at the University of Dar es Salaam School of Law. This is my second time participating in moot as my first competition was at the Alfred Deakin Arbitration Moot based out of Australia. I am m interested in arbitration matters and for that reason, I am happy to be part of the Willem C. Vis Moot team.

 

Glory Msuya

My name is Glory Msuya - a 4 th year LL.B Student from the University of Dar es Salaam and also a participant in Vis Moot. Prior to this, I participated in the Alfred Deakin Arbitration Moot based out of Australia. I’m interested in learning new things in our legal field especially in ADR and mooting. It is my pleasure being part of the UDSM Team.
