Mzumbe University joined the Africa in the Moot initiative in 2021 and will represent the first team from their university to ever participate in the Vis Moot.

Meet the Team

Modest Feran Kweka

Modest is in his second year of study as an LLB student at Mzumbe University in Tanzania. He is very passionate about Law, Commercial Arbitration, Human Rights, Mental Health Awareness, Sexual Assault Awareness and Music. Even more, he is Incredibly excited to be a part of the awesomely didactic experience that is the Vis Moot!

 

Edmund Gilles

Edmund Gilles is a second year Law student at Mzumbe university inTanzania. He is interested in International Law, International Arbitration Law and Business and Tax Law. Outside of school, he enjoys volunteering in his neighborhood and playing sports like basketball. He is VERY much looking forward to the 29th Willem C. Vis Moot.

 

Mark Malekela

Mark attends Mzumbe Law School in Tanzania and is so proud to be a member of the Africa in the Moot initiative. According to him, the exposure between himself and other law students around the continent is the recipe to becoming a better thinker. He plans on using these networking opportunities to become a force to be reckoned with in the 29th edition of the Willem C. Vis Moot.

 

Samuel Rwegasira

This represents Samuel’s first international moot and he could not be more excited to be a participant in it. He is highly interested in International Commercial Arbitration and is determined to do himself, his school, and his country proud in the 2022 Willem C. Vis Moot.

Gloria Chasama

Gloria Chasama is a law student at Mzumbe University interested in International Law, Commercial Law, and Arbitration. As a future lawyer and arbitrator, she is also interested in helping younger law students achieve their dreams and talents. She is very excited to participate for the first time Willem C. Vis Moot and is looking forward to extending her skills in public speaking and leadership.

 

Elizabeth Tarimo

Elizabeth Tarimo is a third year at Mzumbe University. She is interested in International Commercial Arbitration, International Law and Womens’ Rights. I am passionate about moots as they foster, among other things, my presentation and public speaking skills as well as researching abilities. Participating in the Willem C Vis Moot competition has been invaluable to me as it has allowed me to practice International arbitration for the first time and truly enhanced my abilities and knowledge in private international law.

 

Doreen Melchiory

Doreen Melchiory is currently a second year at Mzumbe University. Her main interest is International Commercial Arbitration and she has been participating in moot court competitions since her first year. Doreen considers it to be an honour to take part in the Willem C. Vis Moot competition and to represent her country.
