Who We Are

Cavendish University was founded in 2008 in Kampala, Uganda. They joined the Africa in the Moot initiative for the 2022 Willem C. Vis Moot which represented their first time participating in the Moot.

The team for the 32nd Vis Moot is comprised of six undergraduate law students, who are: Ms.
Apadet Esther, Ms. Pearl Katondwaki, Mr. Rubahaiyo Walter and Mr. Sunday Sharif. The Cavendish Vis Team is coached by Ms. Wong Fontane and Mr.
Godfrey Ayeranga.

Meet the Team

Apadet Esther Faith

Apadet is a third year law student at Cavendish University Uganda. She is passionate about commercial arbitration and this passion has driven her to participate in various arbitration competitions like the Alfred Deakin Moot, Aipac Arbitration Moot and the Vis Moot.

Aside from moots, she loves debating and public speaking. She is also a leader in her university, currently serving as the debate president.

Apadet loves spending my free time singing or catching a movie.


 

Pearl Katondwaki

Pearl Katondwaki, a law student in her final semester at Cavendish University Uganda. She is passionate about Public International law as well as International Commercial Arbitration.

She has participated in a number of moots in the fields of human rights law and International international humanitarian law, and recently participated in the Alfred Deakin ICA moot competition of 2025.  Pearl is keen to widen her knowledge in area of International Commercial Arbitration through her participatiion in the 33rd Willem C. Vis Moot.

In her free time, Pearl loves to read, write and sing.


 

Rubahaiyo Walter

Rubahaiyo is a driven and accomplished third-year law student at Cavendish University of Uganda, with a passion for international commercial arbitration. He has represented his school in prestigious competitions, including the 32nd Vis Moot Competitions, 2024, and the 2025 Deakin Moot Court Competitions, demonstrating his expertise in navigating complex commercial disputes.

Elected as the current Male Guild Representative for Cavendish University School of Law, Rubahaiyo has proven himself as a dedicated leader and advocate for his peers. With a keen interest in shaping the future of global commerce, he is committed to developing his skills and knowledge in arbitration, while also pursuing his love for sports, particularly basketball.

Sunday Sharif

Sunday Sharif is a fourth-year Law student at Cavendish University Uganda. He has a strong passion for advocacy, research, and international legal practice.

Sunday has actively participated in several national and international moot court competitions in arbitration, international humanitarian law, and Constitutional Law.

By participating in the 33rd Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, Sunday looks forward to gaining deeper insights into international commercial law and arbitration, building global networks with aspiring legal professionals, and strengthening my practical understanding of dispute resolution.

Sunday’s slogan is Justice Through Consensus.

 

Fontane Wong (Coach)

Fontane is a pupil barrister in Hong Kong. She read law at the Chinese University of Hong Kong during which she represented her school in the Vis moot as an oralist. She then coached the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur team which received honourable mention for best oralist in the 22nd Vis (East) Moot. Prior to commencement of pupillage, Fontane served as a marshal to judges at the High Court of Hong Kong for one year.

 

Godfrey Ayeranga (Coach)

Geoffrey holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) (honours) degree from Uganda Christian University; a Master of Laws (LLM) degree in Human Rights and Democratisation from the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria; and a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Kenya School of Law, Kenya.

His research interests are in the field(s) of prisoner’s rights, Maternal Health care rights, socio-economic rights, International Human rights Law, International law, International Humanitarian Law, Criminal justice and International Criminal law.

He currently works as Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Cavendish University Uganda and is a Phd Candidate at the Faculty of law, University of the Western Cape.
