Who We Are
Makerere University joined the Africa in the Moot initiative in 2021 and will be participating in the Vis Moot in its 31st edition. They are extremely dedicated to doing their country proud.
The Moot Society of Makerere University keenly selected a team of five dedicated individuals united by their passion for arbitration, unwavering work ethic, and exceptional research skills.
Anita Aryabaha Ashaba
Ashaba is a second year law student who is intrigued by international law and mooting. She hopes that the Vis moot will be a good platform to advance her skills in teamwork, research, problem solving and Arbitration.
Angeo Rachael
Rachael is a second year law student at Makerere University School of Law with a growing interest in international and commercial law. Actively engaged in moot court competitions, where I build skills in legal research, oral advocacy and persuasive writing.
She is a contributor to the Makerere Law Journal, committed to developing strong legal writing and analysis skills. She equally aspires to pursue advanced studies in international law and a career in diplomacy and judicial service.
Katende John Baptist
The dynamic John Katende is a third-year law student at Makerere University. He currently serves as the Vice President of the Makerere Moot Society and Captain of the School of Law soccer team.
He is a proud member of Makerere’s 33rd Vis moot team with a strong passion for International Commercial Arbitration which he believes will be his opportunity to showcase his research skills and oral advocacy.
Martha Rugyera Mahoro
Martha is a second year law student at Makerere University, passionate about International Commercial Law and Arbitration. Having competed in the Alfred Deakin Moot she has gained strong advocacy, research and teamwork skills.
She is driven, disciplined and committed to academic excellence. Her experience reflects a deep commitment to developing expertise in dispute resolution and contributing to the practice of International Commercial Law.
Masika Rinah
Masika is a second year law student at Makerere University with a keen interest in International Commercial Arbitration, Intellectual Property law and Commercial Law.
In 2024, she attained a Certificate in International law in action; Arbitration of International Disputes from Leiden University, further solidifying her foundation in arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution.
Ms. Rinah participated in the Alfred Deakin International Commercial Arbitration Moot 2025. Her involvement in the moot honed her oral advocacy, analytical and teamwork skills while deepening her appreciation of Arbitration as a tool for resolving International Disputes.
Youb Webisa (Coach)
Youb Webisa is an LLB graduate from Makerere University. He is an avid reader, writer and public speaker. In his time at law school, he participated in the 31st Vis Moot both in Nairobi and Vienna. He also served on the MAA Core Team and in Africa in the Moot with the objective of giving back to the Vis Community. This year, his passion has led him to coaching his Alma matter, seeking to bring the team to greater heights on the international stage.
Jonas Habert (Coach)
Jonas has experience of handling complex and high-value international commercial and investment arbitration, with a particular focus on construction, aviation, and energy disputes. He also has experience in commercial litigation.
Jonas read Law at Assas-Paris II University, graduating with a distinction, and then completed a Master’s degree in International Private Law and International Commercial Law from Sorbonne-Paris I University. As part of his Master’s degree, Jonas studied Law at University College London.
After two years practice in Paris as a trainee associate at a leading arbitration law firm, Jonas joined Enyo Law in June 2017. Jonas qualified as a French lawyer in November 2017 and qualified as a Solicitor of England & Wales in May 2020.
